Start Small and Go Big

November 17, 2014 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Start small. Do more or add more if you want to.

man-looking-at-small-portionIt’s always easier to add more and it’s much more empowering than it is to feel bad about taking on too much.

This applies on many levels.

For example, if you’re trying to lose weight, take less than you want. (You can always go back from more but can’t give back what you eat.)

If you’re starting an exercise program, commit to a smaller realistic amount rather than an unwieldy longer time. (You can always add more.)

If you’re cleaning your house, promise yourself you’ll do one room really well instead of the whole house and get overwhelmed. (You can always do more if you want.)

July 28, 2014 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

I was doing some work with the television on in the background and this ad came up. It flagged me because of its reference to “imperfect.” It’s also funny.

Enjoy.

Video: Killing Us Softly 4 – Trailer

I think we’ve all seen lots of videos about what the media does to change the way women look – and the repercussions of that. This five minute video show lots of examples and is extremely powerful and shows how this practice affects all of us.

Taking Care of Yourself During the Holidays

December 9, 2013 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Take a moment for you.

In case you had not noticed, it’s a very busy time of year.

woman juggling too many things

During this time of year, there’s a whole lot to do.

Maybe, you’re buying and wrapping gifts, getting them to the post office, sending out cards, preparing special foods, shopping, traveling, welcoming guests, shopping,  decorating the house, and oh yes, did we say “shopping?”

In addition there’s that “money thing.” After all, it’s not like you can drop a note in the envelope to the bank and say, “I have a lot of other expenses. I’d like to pass on paying my mortgage.”

Add to all of that that your life doesn’t stop and it can be really cold (which seems to make things worse).

The combination of everything – whether you love or hate the holiday season – can be just plain stressful.

That’s why it’s essential you put aside some time every day to take care of you. Put things in priority. Slow down. Remember what matters.

If you don’t, who will take care of everything you’re supposed to do?
