Choose Happiness

April 12, 2012 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Self-Acceptance Affirmation

Choosing Happiness

Happiness is fluid.

If we expect that in order to be “happy,” we must always be happy, we will only be disappointed.

If – at the end of the day – we can say we were happy more times than we were not, then indeed we are happy. If that is not the case, we need to take a look at why we are not and make changes to become so.

Happiness is my choice. No one makes me happy – and no one can take it from me.

Today, I will take time to be happy more often.

Never Too Late to Start Again

February 27, 2012 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Self-Acceptance Affirmation

Starting “Again”

It’s never too late – nor too early – to begin again.

Progress, by its very definition, is not a linear process. We move forward, we fall down, we get back up again. Each time we slip up, it means we’ve tried something new. We need to congratulate ourselves for that.

Therefore, the more progress we make, the more times we will fall down. What matters is how long it takes us to get back up again.

Today, I will re-commit myself to something I want that I had previously stopped pursuing. I will take one small step. I will congratulate myself for my persistence. I am proud of the fact that I keep going.

Analyzing My Actions for True Results

February 10, 2012 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Anti-Perfectionism Affirmation

Analyzing my Actions

Our thoughts lead to our actions. Our actions become our lives.

If something in your life is consistently NOT the way you expect it or want it to be, it’s time to take a look at the actions in your life. However, it’s important to do so without “beating yourself up.” Accept that the old action was simply the best way you knew how to do something – until now. Now that you know more, you will choose to do something different.

Reward yourself for what you tried – and then let it go (without blame)

Today, I will evaluate the results of my behaviors with appreciation for the intention and honesty in the results.

Accepting Things for How They Are

February 9, 2012 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Self-Acceptance Affirmation

Accepting Situations as They Are

Life can be frustrating, there’s no two ways about it. When it is overwhelming and I feel like a hamster on a wheel, I am faced with only three choices:

  1. Quit the assignment, task, or job
  2. Change the assignment, task, or job to make it better for me
  3. Change my attitude to accept that I’ve made a choice to be here and I’m not willing (or able) to do anything else

Staying in a frustrating situation and ranting about it will not change it. It will also ruin my attitude, make me less productive, and possibly ruin my relationships (as well as possibly get me fired). Honor yourself for your willingness to persevere, take a deep breath, and be grateful for whatever you can.

My attitude is my own. Today I will choose to be accepting of my situation and be grateful for what I have.

Remember to Give Thanks for What you Have

Anti-Perfectionism Affirmation

Being Thankful for What You Have

So often we focus so much on what we do not have that we forget to take a look at what we DO have. That feeling generates a painful sense of lack, pushing us to either give up because we’re “never going to get what we want;” or to push even harder, inducing stress, and causing mistakes. It’s OK to  try and do better and accomplish more. In many ways, it’s healthy. However, don’t forget to take stock of what you do have along the way.

I am thankful for what I have accomplished and for those people around me.
