Expect Things to NOT go as you Want

woman-not-looking-where-goingIt’s great to make plans; they are necessary to help you get where you want.

Do not, however, make the mistake of expecting that simply because you made a plan, it will go as expected. That’s an exercise in futility.

It’s much smarter to assume that your plan will only go perfectly until you start it. After that, as they say, “Life is what happens while you’re making other plans.”

When things get tough, keep your head down and your eyes on the prize. (OK, that’s a mixed metaphor which technically would only make sense if your goal was to look at your shoes – but you get the point.)

Self-Acceptance Affirmation

People will still love you even if you mess up.

We are more critical of ourselves than almost anyone else. We can feel unloved for our errors and our shortcomings. We are also more forgiving of others when they make mistakes than we are of ourselves.

The people we love – and those who love us – know we are not perfect. Yet, they love us anyway, just as we do them.

We are entitled to love because we exist, not because we are infallible.

I am loved for who I am.

Admitting Mistakes

We are judged not by our absence of flaws – but by the positive traits we possess.

Most (not all) of the people we know are relatively forgiving – if we give them a chance. They see our flaws and love us anyway – unless we try to deny what we don’t do well.

Admit your shortcomings, ask for help, work to get better.

And remember to be as understanding when others do the same.
