Video: Beautiful Mind, the Human Camera

May 17, 2011 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

An amazing video about how amazing we humans are! This man, Stephen Wiltshire, can remember the entire landscape of a city – and then draw it – after one fly over. It’s definitely worth the few minutes of your time to see what we can do.

On an opposite, humorous side, you’ll want to check out this posting about forgetfulness, as well as this video.

Monday Motivational Memo: Overcoming Temptation

May 16, 2011 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

One of the reasons we fail to achieve what we want is we feel we have to give up so darn much to get it that it’s not worth it. For example, we say, “I’ll NEVER be able to go out to eat again,” or “I’m going to have to exercise EVERY DAY.”

The thought of doing something  without end is daunting and overwhelming. When we’re overwhelmed is when our “bad” habits kick in at their strongest. (Remember a habit is designed to comfort us.)  Therefore, we think, “What the heck, it’s just this once. I’ll be better tomorrow.” Before we know it, we’re back in our old routine.

What’s the solution?

Instead of thinking how you feel right now, ask yourself, “What behavior will help me feel good five minutes from now?” Or if you can, “What will make me feel good tomorrow morning?”

Slow yourself down for a few moments. THEN make a decision. Most of the time, you’ll choose the healthier option. And the key to success is to do it most of the time.

Motivational Video: Seal Regaining its Freedom

May 12, 2011 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Stop me before I post more animal videos; I’m becoming obsessed!

However, if the purpose of this site is to inspire and motivate, then this hits it out of the park. It’s not only cute, it’s inspirational. Once the seal realizes he (or she) is free, notice the absolute glee he experiences as he races for freedom. (By the way, there’s no sound.)

What will you do today to feel like this seal today?

You can find out more at their site at www.sealrescue.org or facebook.com/sealrescue

Overcome Setbacks

May 9, 2011 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Sometimes, things just don’t work out.

After setting ourselves back on the path toward our goal, many times, our inner perfectionist comes out and says, “I blew it! Well, as long as I blew it, I might as well really blow it. I can start again tomorrow (next week, next month, next year).”

That’s where the danger comes in. We have now given ourselves permission to do more damage.

Even if you “blow it” (by whatever definition you use for that term), the solution is in how fast you recover. We all make mistakes. Successful people actually make more of them. The difference is they recognize them as setbacks, get up, and move forward quickly.

When you slip up, simply remind yourself that the next thing you do can make it worse or start to fix it. Then, make the choice that will be helpful.

8 Ways to Feel More Alive, Joyful and Grateful – No Matter What

May 6, 2011 by Featured Author

From “Have to” to “Get to”

“There are only two ways to go through life. One is believe nothing is a miracle. The other, is to see that everything is.” – Albert Einstein

Are you ready to be done getting sick, injured or having so much drama and victimization in your life?

Speaking as someone who had had a very difficult life that seemed rife with mishaps and crises one right after another for decades, until I figured a few things out and shifted what reality I am creating, allow me to share some recent insights and real, tangible practices that can help you break free and get into a life of more flow, health, wealth, love and happiness.

Three weeks ago, I sustained a pretty serious ankle injury involving sprain, extreme bruising and multiple torn ligaments. Here I was, essentially lying in bed for 10 days in a row, then hobbling along in a cast, not able to drive, take hikes or my daily walks, dance, going up and down the stairs on my tush with my foot stuck out… you get the idea.

Of course part of the emotional challenge with any injury or illness that limits our mobility or ability significantly, even if it temporary, is this sense of “Wow, my world has gotten really small.” And the fear of “How long is THIS going to last?” And the self-judgment “How and why did I manifest THIS?”

So, let’s take a look and go from whys to wise, turn the wounds into wisdom. I believe everything happens so we can learn from it, and when we get wise to our patterns and deep soul lessons, we can thereafter create something even better.

Out of trauma and emergency, we can “emerge and see.”

We can learn and grow, develop a deeper appreciation for the simple things in life, and emerge even more joyful and full of aliveness

I should probably give you a little context. [Read more…]
