Listen to as many ideas as you can.
Even if you don’t use what others say, you won’t have the option if you don’t listen.
I was surprised that one of the best lessons I ever learned was from someone I barely respected.
He was a consultant at a radio station at which I worked in my twenties. I thought he was a buffoon but, because he held control over my position, I was forced to listen to him.
He told me “Great managers don’t always come up with the best ideas, they just recognize them.”
I thought that was brilliant! It turned me around in a minute.
