This Too Shall Pass: Optimism is the Key

July 28, 2011 by Featured Author

Sometimes we start thinking that it doesn’t matter what we do, instead of having desired results we will always be having opposite effects. And then we become hopeless beings and start giving up.

  • How to come out of it?
  • How to remain positive during tough times?
  • How to be an optimistic?

These are the questions we would be trying to answer through this article.

Life does not always work the way we want.

Ups and downs are part of life. Sometimes we feel like whole world is against us. Whatever we want to do others won’t let us. It looks like nothing is working in our favor. But that’s not the end of the world. Life is full of surprises and unexpected turns. This makes life more beautiful. You just have to open your eyes to this beauty and embrace it with full heart.

Optimism is about to be happy. It’s about believing in your abilities. Believing that you can make things happen even when circumstances are against you.

Monday Motivational Memo: Staying Motivated

July 25, 2011 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Before giving in, don’t say “I Won’t,” say “I won’t right now.”

Then wait 10 minutes and see what happens.

Will power is not the ability to say “I’ll never do it.  It’s the ability to say “I won’t do it right now.”

If we can take a few minutes and settle down what’s going on inside us, we have an opportunity to change it. To that end, tell yourself, “I will wait 10 minutes before I decide what to do.” Then, do something, anything, except what you were going to do. Make sure you change your environment – and for goodness sakes – don’t set a timer!

What usually happens is that the feeling passes. We get distracted. We go on to other things. Before we know it, 10 minutes has become 30 or 60. Once we realize how well we’ve done, we have the opportunity to feel good about our success instead of disappointed in giving in.

Even if you then decide to do what you were going to do, at least it’s now a choice and you don’t feel like you’re a victim to your own habits.

Building Support

April 18, 2011 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

If you can’t have faith, have hope.

If you don’t have hope, have patience.

If you don’t have patience, have good friends.

Reach out. We are social beings, which explains why we build communities and relationships. It’s who we are at our core. Talk to someone. Remember, even powerful people have needs. Besides, when you share, you almost immediately feel better.

Call a friend. Send an email. Someone is there to help. You just need to ask.
