This Too Shall Pass: Optimism is the Key

July 28, 2011 by Featured Author

Sometimes we start thinking that it doesn’t matter what we do, instead of having desired results we will always be having opposite effects. And then we become hopeless beings and start giving up.

  • How to come out of it?
  • How to remain positive during tough times?
  • How to be an optimistic?

These are the questions we would be trying to answer through this article.

Life does not always work the way we want.

Ups and downs are part of life. Sometimes we feel like whole world is against us. Whatever we want to do others won’t let us. It looks like nothing is working in our favor. But that’s not the end of the world. Life is full of surprises and unexpected turns. This makes life more beautiful. You just have to open your eyes to this beauty and embrace it with full heart.

Optimism is about to be happy. It’s about believing in your abilities. Believing that you can make things happen even when circumstances are against you.

There are some tips which can help you to stay positive during negative times:

  1. Positive outlook: Always keep a positive outlook towards the things. Don’t always try to find faults in others, try and see their good qualities as well.
  2. Enjoyment: This is a very effective way to overcome your negative thoughts. You can read, dance, exercise, listen music, watch your favorite movie, can go out with friends or any other activity you could enjoy. These activities will distract you from your problems for some time. This will help you to look at your problem in a new light.
  3. Have Patience: Things don’t change overnight. It takes time. You need to be patient.
  4. Accept the past: Try to accept the things that happened to you in the past. Try to admit the mistakes you made. It would be a painful experience but later on you will find easy to let it go and look at future with new hope.
  5. Avoid negative company: Many people always look at the things negatively. Their thinking affects those who are around them. So it would be better if you avoid those people as much as you can.
  6. Inspirational Books and Movies: Read inspirational books and watch motivational movies.
  7. Talk: Talk to a friend who could encourage you.
  8. Counselor’s advice: Sometimes people find it difficult to get rid of their negative thoughts. They can take the help of counselors or therapist. Counselors can help you to overcome your difficulties and problems.
  9. Challenge yourself: Always try to improve and strive for best. Don’t think that I can’t do it. Always think I can do it.
  10. Don’t compare yourself with others: Don’t compare your performance with others. Rather compare your performance with your past performance and improve it.
  11. Nothing is constant: Always remember that nothing is constant. Bad times will end as well. It will also make you appreciate your good times.
  12. Good sleep: Good sleep can do wonders. Lack of sleep affects your work as well. You may feel irritation while dealing with your problems.

Optimism doesn’t stop tough things from happening in your life but it gives you strength to fight it. It helps you to look at future with hope. Need to be optimistic is very important to get most out of the life. Have faith in your abilities. Every morning brings a new ray of hope with it, just grab it and climb on the path of new possibilities.
