Peace or Perfection?

May 1, 2012 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Self-Acceptance Affirmation

Inner peace always outranks perfection.

Sometimes, it’s important to ask yourself what matters most – being happy or spending years striving to be “perfect” (especially since you never will).

It’s not “settling for second best” if you make a conscious effort to relax and enjoy your life.  After all, what could be more “perfect than that?”

Today I am at peace with who I am.

Video: Dance Walking Fitness with Ben Aaron

I didn’t know who this guy was until I saw this video.

As it turns out, he’s a  reporter in New York.  (Find his Facebook page here.) However, it doesn’t matter; he put together a fun, upbeat video about being more active and enjoying the process. (It’s also about the only time I’ve ever thought it would be fun to live in New York City!)

Eliminating Suffering

April 25, 2012 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

Self-Acceptance Affirmation

Suffering is NOT a requisite for success.

As someone once said, “Pain is mandatory, suffering is optional.”

We all experience pain during our lives. It’s inevitable. It’s part of the human condition. However,  focusing on it and fearing how much worse it can get does nothing to limit nor lower it.

When I am in pain, I am able to reach out to others for support and to take time to comfort myself. At times like those I need healing, not more to worry about.

Today, I let go of suffering and focus on the joy of accomplishment.

What Success Feels Like

success joy happiness

THIS is what success feels like.

We think that “success” is always “out there,” in a far away place. Because of that thought process, we feel inadequate and frustrated.

The reality is we can draw the boundaries of success to be wherever we want them to be.

Maybe we aren’t at our correct weights, but we’re closer to them. Maybe our finances aren’t in the shape we want them, but they’re getting closer. Maybe our relationships aren’t where they could be, but they’re improving.

Isn’t positive movement the “real” definition of success?

Reward yourself. You’re doing better than you think.

Video: Sue Morter at TEDx NASA

March 24, 2012 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Sue Morter a few times (and interviewing her) and absolutely love what she talks about, a fascinating take on how we are connected to the universe.

You cannot get the full feeling without being in the audience, but it’s as close to life-changing as almost any experience I have attended.  Having said that, here’s a taste.
