Catch yourself doing something RIGHT today.
This was actually triggered by something that happened to me today. I was moving a table to get to an electric socket. In the process, I knocked a ceramic mug of pens off the table. I caught the mug before it hit the ground and therefore prevented the pens from spilling all over the floor.
My first reaction was to call myself an idiot for knocking down the mug, which sadly, is my normal response. A quick moment later, after realizing I prevented the spill, I thought, “Wow! Quick reflexes Scott.” I felt much better after that thought than I did from the first thought.
Per earlier memos: “We are very quick to insult ourselves – and very slow to compliment ourselves.” Try reversing that today. See how you feel.
And while you’re at it, catch someone else doing something right today too.
