I am Who I am, But Who am I?

I am who I am, but who am I?

sun-over-earth

This question struck me like a lightning bolt! I imagine I’m not the only individual to be struck either.

After struggling with a pessimistic thought process for years, I finally realized I’m as normal as the guy or gal sitting beside me on a train or bus. What makes us different and unique is how we decide to fix our pessimistic mindset. Many of us constantly climb this world looking one way… downward! There’s a constant battle between our mind and heart. We want and need what the heart knows to be right! However, our mind argues that we are pathetic, feeble and most times unworthy!

Let me take you back a few years, when I thought for many years I was unworthy of anyone’s company.

I will fail them I thought. How can you prevent failure to family or a friend? Don’t verbalize your feelings at all my toxic mind would feed me. Keep those strong feelings, which stem from your heart, shut from them! You can’t fail anyone if you keep your heart at a distances right? Wrong! It wasn’t until I left them, ran actually, that I realized they were the ones that accepted me for me. My family was my closest friends and my friends were my family.

Let me tell you something friend, WE ARE unique individuals, with a unique individual purpose. Some of us venture onto a journey in search of love, happiness and success not realizing we already have it. We’re blinded by our natural faults, imperfections and a tainted mind.

In my colorful mind, I truly believe we’re all might to reach unimaginable heights of success! Though keep in mind; we cannot obtain happiness OR success. Both are needed to live a fruitful life. We just have to believe no matter how big or small the achievement, it can make a positive impact. And hopefully that positive impact becomes a contagious domino effect, feeding starved hearts.

Several of us roam this Earth saying,

“I will start my better future tomorrow!”

And yes, I was once an active member of that majority. Sometimes I find myself slipping. I am human after all. Why not start a better future today? The time to make a healthy change was not yesterday or tomorrow, it’s right now! Your past or future does not represent who you are. What you plan to do today is what represents you!If you’ve read this far I could not be anymore thankful! I had my son at an early age. For years I was disgusted with myself. However, because he remains in my life and I in his, I see myself transforming into somebody I thought I would never be. Here’s what I tell him every time I see him or speak with on the phone, “remember buddy, you’re a winner!” I’m hoping this will stick to his brain like glue. Domestic your minds into being a winner in any endeavor and you will see golden opportunities surround you!

Smile my friend, you are an exceptional individual!

I consider myself a man/father trying to change the world one day at a time. What more could I actually ask for!?
