Video: Final Chapter in Elephant-Dog Friendship

November 23, 2011 by Scott "Q" Marcus Leave a Comment

I was a little hesitant to put this one up because it does have a sad ending and I want this site to be uplifting. However, sadness is also part of our lives and the uplifting feeling one gets from the story is worth it. (Besides, we need to work through sadness in order to be healthy.)

I don’t see how anyone can say that animals don’t experience emotions nor develop close relationships after watching this video. The fact that Tara tried to rescue Bella and take her to the sanctuary, and the fact that the other elephants are sharing their food with Tara was amazing – and inspiring – to me.

(Of course, being someone who’s always watching his weight, I found it humorous, that even in the elephant world, we try to deal with our grief by eating.)

I discovered the story through the Good News Network. It is from CBS news; the full story with the original story are here. If you would like to know more about the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee, you can find about about it at www.elephants.com.
